Phone: Do you keep the VPN on all the time?

Curious if anyone keeps the vpn toggled on 24x7 on your phone or only as needed.

Edit: I kept the vpn on for the past 24 hours. After about three hours from the time I turned it I checked the connection and it had been connected only 19 minutes. After twelve hours from the I turned it on I checked again and it had been connected for three hours. Judging from this test ProtonVPN on iOS disconnects and reconnects regularly throughout the day/night.

I have it on 24x7. ProtonVPN is fast enough that its usually set and forget for me.

I have it on 24x7. Battery is not an issue as it uses 2-3% by the end of the day.

in order to save phone battery its better to have it on router level, then all or some of your devices might be under VPN

in public wifi,

on a friend’s wifi

Mine is set to always on and for Netflix and other apps I have a island profile set up that only contains apps that I don’t want to route via VPN tunnel. Works good for me

Yes I do, I am just checking if I am not diconnect.

Only when needed as it lost network connection and goes blank if connected all the time. I even tried disabling battery optimization,it’s the same.

Yes! Although recently I’ve had to toggle on and off whenever turning on my screen to stay connected. Glad to have the quick settings button for this

Cannot use it at work. My company wifi seems to block any VPN connections when connected to their wifi

24/7 with split tunneling configured for any apps that need to be able to see local devices i.e. jellyfin

Yup, using another provider that offers wireguard so it usually only consumes ~2% of my battery.

Always on and no connection if VPN is off!

Allways on. 24/7. No problems with the battery.

Of course always on top

Aside from the frequent disconnects and when ProtonVPN doesn’t allow podcasts or email to download, yes.

It’s on all the time

I usually don’t when I’m at home, but when out then yeah.

Even on your home network ?

Same here. It’s always on my phone and desktop… why I paid for it, after all
