So basically I am travelling to a different country for a long period, and I will be leaving my current router/PC switched on for the entire time. I’m looking for the easiest way to route the “new” connection to my current router/PC and I’ve read about openvpn, wireguard and tailscale but can’t decide which is the easier option. Please help
Good staring point. Want to add, good homerouters have this built-in already.
Also to the OP:
- WG and OpenVPN are comparable products (WG more modern, faster, OpenVPN supported by older platforms).
- Tailscale is a service. Does do more and hides away the details. It is able to connect multiple sites/clients to one virtual network
- The solution depends on what you want to do.
- If you have no public IP, it gets more complicated or the number of possible appraisals shrinks
