Iv been shopping around an looking for a new VPN provider, curious which ones you all like an why?
Wireguard when and if I need it.
Very happy with Mullvad lately. Used ProtonVPN before I switched cause I wanted to try something new.
I’m with the self-hosting crowd here as well. Recently been playing around with headscale on Digital Ocean, using some of the webservers I host around the world as exit nodes.
mulvad, best security record in terms of handing over logs etc from what it read up on.

I’ve been using ProtonVPN lately.
Protonvpn. Beat out there by far imo. Lots of features, free is fast already, and paid is really fast. I downgraded because back to free because it was fast enough.
Hideme. Dual stack and you can choose between OpenVPN, softether, wireguard and a lot more.
Do note that the ip address that you get after a successful connection are private addresses.
On /r/VPN you can find a comparison of lots of VPN providers.
To answer your initial question, based on positive reports and information from /r/vpn I’m currently using NordVPN. Till now no downtimes, bandwidthissues or similar. Using it in several VMs and on my mobile.
None. I trust my ISP more than a VPN company.
See the VPN page at defensivecomputingchecklist.com for features to look for when picking a VPN.
PrivateInternetAccess
Tailscale
I use a VPN I set up on a GCP Free Tier server. Works well, I don’t pay a cent, and I have access to all the logs on the box running the VPN since I have root access.
I opted for HideMyAss. My needs were to try to trick Hulu into thinking my TMobile internet was local so they’d give me back my local channels. HMA had a DataCenter in my area. It didn’t work an Hulu block me for using a VPN. BUT I still have a cool “ass” name and it was really cheap experiment.
Two lessons. VPN won’t help get around Hulu’s Donkeyshit. And you need to know what you want and find out which VPNs can give you that. Factor a cost into your needs.
ExpressVPN. I think it’s the best one.
follow https://bitcoin-vpn.com - mullvad, ovpn, windscribe or airvpn
Cryptostorm.is
Payment in anonymous crypto, good privacy options and secure setup. Not as widely known or used as other providers currently.
The best vpns are probably the self hosted ones but if you don’t know anything about coding and stuff like that they’re a massive pain in the ass to set up, just find the cheapest one that has a good no tracking policy
These seems to promote anonymity and security in some manner AizireVPN, Airvpn, Cryptostorm
General use VPN and prob not the most anonymous or secure and most likely readily hands over logs despite their ‘no logs’ policy ExpressVPN, FastVPN, VirtualShield, NordVPN
This. So many people see the nordvpn ads and think “VPNs make me secure and untrackable”. They then waste their money on something that just makes their internet slower, and sometimes makes them way easier to track.
