I’m inexperienced when it comes to VPNs but Opera VPN seems fast and easy to use. I assume they collect my data since it is free(I don’t really care though) but otherwise are there any downsides to this?
It does it job very well indeed. Maybe one or two more major countries for georestriction would be welcome. But you can’t complain when it’s free without data limitation.
It isn’t as fast as expected, but for being a totally free service it’s much better than any alternative. Also, it’s baked in the browser, you don’t have to do anything at all!
Don’t use it while on YouTube, or it will buffer like crazy.
Except it’s not a VPN there is no downsides.
It only works for your browser so if you want something to cover your whole computer you’ll need to look elsewhere.
Agreed. It works out of the box better than paid VPN
There’s also a PIA extension for Chrome. Paid, but a better option.
What do you mean it’s not a VPN?
I know that, but browser only is enough for me.
Technically it’s not a VPN, but it effectively serves the exact same purpose.
So they’re just being pedantic for pedantic’s sake.
Ah I’m just saying that it is a downside compared with some paid VPNs (some people expect it to work outside the browser).
Same here. Browser is 80% coverage, with 0% effort of configuration/setup/debugging
