I am not having the problem you are, but the new update messed up some other stuff on my browser. I have been using Opera for years and was satisfied and had no problems to the extent I never even considered looking for anything else. So it messed up enough I’m now looking at alternatives, as much as I used to hate it, I have heard Microsoft Edge is now really good, and fixed a lot of things that people used to complain about, so I’m giving it a try. Good luck in your search.
Yup, they definitely screwed up streaming on many sites, on my case I’m overseas and use opera with vpn on to view DIRECTV Steam but now it’s clammed up… you can still navigate the site (add recordings/delet shows, etc…) but the video just don’t play like they did just yesterday
Anyone know of any other browsers with vpn in them like Opera has …
I’ve used Opera for years. This update is what will make me install Firefox tonight. I can grumble and put up with some UI bs I don’t like but it’s loading many MANY of my sites at least 3 or 4 times a slow (sometimes slower). Not acceptable. This update is crap and Opera will lose market share because of it. What a stupid move.
You should just get a standalone VPN. It will be much faster and you can use it with any software. I just got a 12 month sub to Avast Secureline VPN for AUD$35. OK it might not work for HULU or BBC IPLAYER from Australia but still gives peace of mind!
Also, try with a test standalone installation to see if everything works fine there. Also, try test standalone installations of Opera Beta and Opera Developer to see if your issues are already fixed there.
Firefox is also very good now. I actually hadn’t used it in years but it comes installed with some Linux systems I was trying out and it’s different than I remember.
I know, but leary of doing it out of my country (just some stupid unfounded reason) and I’m in Central America visiting family and their top speed is only 25mb anyways so I doubt I’d gain much … when I get back stateside I’ll look into it
I’m trying to understand how these standalone vpn work on a desktop or iPad … is it a program that works in the Background and hides the original IP?..
for now I found a cheapo get around since I have a cheap😅 android box and d/l Opera onto it and was able to view DTV stream that way and access any US websites with the vpn on … but it makes me wonder if maybe uninstalling opera on my laptop and then reinstalling might solve the issue
