If you use Nord VPN because you value privacy, you should stop. Nord VPN shares your activity with Facebook.
I was looking through the ad settings on Facebook (which is scary enough as it is) when I stumbled upon the “Off Facebook Activity” section (link: https://www.facebook.com/off_facebook_activity/activity_list). This is where you can see that services that you use have shared your activity on their services with Facebook to better serve you ads.
One of the last things I expected to see there was Nord VPN, I service I started using because I wanted to take more control of my online privacy. In the linked screenshot there are 2 different mentions of Nord VPN, but there’s a third farther down the list. I downloaded my data from Facebook’s data downloader, and it looks like the activity that Nord shared with Facebook was limited to me going to their website and activating apps. Even so, the fact that a service that says it values privacy would share enough info to connect me to my account, plus share even any of my activity with an organization that cares so little about privacy is disheartening.
Needless to say, I will be shopping for a new VPN service.
