Where can we find it? We’re in NZ but we can only find Australia, UK and USA on ThreeNow. I’d love to see one with the Kiwis.
We are just at the finale of S2 and we are loving it. Unlike any other country I’ve seen (Can, UK, US), these faithful are incredible Traitor hunters. Incredible to watch.
S1 was my absolute favorite traders season so far that I’ve seen. Just starting s2 and very excited about it! They play hard, but they’re always playing. No constant weeping like in the UK, no big reality personalities mugging for the camera or manipulating the edit. It’s a lot of fun. And they’re very good! The only US faithful who have even come close are the few episodes with Pilot Pete as Faithful Detective in s2 before he got banishedz
I’m looking forward to it! I’m already enjoying Mark the gamer, he’s having so much fun
I agree about Mark and enjoy Mike too. I got confused between their names in the beginning though
I think they give the contestants IQ tests before they let them play.
NZ season 1 was my least favorite only because the faithfuls were so good at catching traitors. Haven’t seen season 2 yet but looking forward to it.
I’ve really enjoyed US3, mainly due to one player (I won’t spoil who!). But you will love NZ2, its regular people rather than the celebs so a bit of a different dynamic. But the sentiment of them being so much smarter is definitely the same haha
Anyone know when NZ2 will be released on Peacock? It only has NZ1 on right now.
Not sure where you’re located, but sh.video has all of NZS2 available to stream for free.
Season 2 is on YouTube here:

I’m wondering how much of this is editing. Like, are the NZ producers letting us see conversations that we don’t see in US/UK.
It’s possible that we have a different sensibility about it maybe? Even just in terms of how we make and consume TV locally?
I don’t know what other seasons look like between what takes place and what ends up on screen, but I feel that there’s a real focus in those NZ seasons in making the game make sense.
If someone is going to do something at some stage, there’s real effort in the edit to make sure the viewer has the information necessary (either via seeing actions/conversations, or through interview) to understand it.
There are definitely times in some of the other seasons (especially US) where I think, as a viewer, I’ve been left a bit bewildered. But I have tended to assume that was a reflection more on the players and their approach to the game, than on the way the show is edited.
If NZ has lower budget it would make sense for more of that to be included (as there’s maybe less money to spend time on other shots/tasks). I haven’t seen NZ, though.
Wow I really liked Paul as a host but reading his Wikipedia page and he seems like a real twat, I assumed he was a nice older gay kiwi gentleman
It’s good to see him on TV again. He spends half his time in america these days
Part of the dynamic of the show is that many of the contestants knew each other - so they had ongoing relationships that A) meant they knew each other’s behaviour
This is a common assumption about NZ1 that I don’t think really holds true. For the most part the relationships weren’t that close, so the idea of knowing the behaviour of others (especially in that environment) is not that realistic.
and B) were going to keep the game in perspective and not damage friendships for the future.
I think the first part is right, about keeping the game in perspective. But I doubt there was any real fear of damaging friendships (because of the in perspective part).
Ultimately I think everyone there was excited to play the game, and fully committed to getting the most from it, which mean engaging with it in its own terms.
US is basically a totally different show that I enjoy for the value of seeing my favourite players and random personalities interact. Canada/NZ/AU have better game players so I much prefer it to the UK edition.
My roomie and I just watched NZ1 for the first time last week and I’d agree about it being a Rorschach test. I’d heard a lot of people say NZ1 was a great season but I didn’t know why people thought that. Midway through the season I was struggling to see why people loved it so much, I felt like there were no stakes and nobody for me to root for and against, I was by far the least invested I’d ever been in the outcome of a Traitors season. It was also quite frankly very hard to follow as an American who didn’t know any of these people and felt like I was missing a lot of context.
It finally occurred to me that the people who loved NZ1 were the people who just wanted to watch relatively normal, even-keeled people play a logical game as a group, and I get it even if I didn’t feel the same way. If I were to ever play the Traitors, I’d certainly rather play with a cast like this. But as a person who will never actually play watching at home? I’m sorry, but my sick American brain hungers for the heightened drama and emotions that come with the more extreme, unhinged personalities. I’d never want to get rid of seasons like NZ1 though, I think the variety is better for this franchise than if every country’s version was the exact same thing.
So iconic. My jaw actually dropped for real!
NZ has my favorite cast between S1 and S2 - Brook, Colin, Dan, Bailey, Noel, Jason, Siale - all so fun to watch. Even the bad players were fun and generally “smarter” than the worst ones from other series.
