Some others work well enough, but once they break, they are gone forever.
Avoid Express, Nord and all the others that advertise aggressively on youtube.

AstrillVPN works great on PC but is unreliable on handheld devices (at least for me.)
I used to use ExpressVPN but their services were becoming more and more unreliable in recent years. Not sure how they are presently.
AVOID NordVPN and VyprVPN like the plague! Nord doesn’t have a Windows client that works in China (stated on their website for Chinese users) and is absolutely trash-to-nonexistent on handhelds; VyprVPN is slow, unreliable, and keeps logs of your sessions and will hand over your information if asked.
Astrill is great, upgrade as I got more into playing games online and needing to find a good server. The speed test feature is straightforward and even times when vpns seem to be down here I can always find a several good options still.

Set up your own by renting a Linux VPS and installing a VPN server software of your choice on it. There are many tutorials online.
Astrill worked ok for me. Make sure to download 40-50 of them before you go. You won’t be able to download them easily when you get there.
We paid for Express and it worked about 1 hour a day max.
I paid for like 3 of them at the same time, they don’t always work no matter which you choose, during Party congress every year you lose it for like a whole week.
By the way… Is it now possible to watch Amazon Prime Video with Astrill?

Question for you - I apologise, I’m not good with the actual language, but I have shadowsocks set up, and I use a website where I get nodes (节点）which are based in the US or Japan - but I want to explore some different servers (looking for based in Australia ones) - do you know where I would find or how I could search for them? I tried one company but then I couldn’t seem to get their nodes to connect with shadowsocks :S
I’m using wannaflix with almost no issues.
