More and more apps require disconnecting from VPN

I’m not certain if this is a Surfshark specific issue, or is similar across the board with VPNs in general, but more and more frequently do I find myself needing to disconnect from a server when opening even most mundane of apps. Is there an explanation to this?

Hi, we would need more details to offer any suggestions that could help with the app issues you’re having. Could you reach out to our tech support at [email protected] or via live chats on our website?

I have no problems at all in germany. You can try out the rotating IP maybe that helps. Additionally, I think some websites safe cookies at your PC which state that you use a VPN although you are disconnected. Maybe clear your cache.

EU region and no issues: banking, amazon, other major online warehouse, reddit, etc.

I guess it’s server dependent. Did you try/change to another VPN server, as some websites can detect ‘unusual high’ traffic from one IP. I also suggest avoiding Google search and try alternatives: duckduck go, Brave, etc.

Follow up on the mods suggestion to contact support. Reports, re. blocked sites may be of interest to them. VPN blocking isn’t SS specific and in my line of work I use VPN’s from different brands (and it’s always a cat&mouse game). Like the other comment, clear cache, cookies, etc.

None of the streaming services are working over Surfshark VPN for me.

Can’t load Reddit with Surfshark, though I have tried multiple locations. Can with other VPNs.

I have the same Problem. ChatGPT, a lot of local apps, banking apps etc. don‘t work with Surfshark. Also if I switch to my neighbouring countries to watch sport events they still say im in Germany and can‘t watch. What a shitshow. Used another for years before and hadn‘t any issue at all.

Hi, did you try to use Reddit specifically while logged in to your Reddit account and using Surfshark?

We have noticed before that there might be problems while using Reddit with VPNs, but only while not logged in to a Reddit account.

I was logged in at the time. Will give it a go with a few browsers.

Didn’t intend to hijack thread

Vivaldi: Not working, IP Exposed:

“This site can’t be reached “ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT””

Disabled extensions, cleared cache, tested in private window, multiple server locations. Logged and unlogged.

Floorp: Working, IP not exposed, not logged

Brave: Working, not logged, Surfshark Extension connected to US server location, IP of extension

Likely a setting with Vivaldi, but curious it doesn’t work with Surfshark enabled. Software makes me salty.

Addendum: Been using Surfshark for about two years, but the last month+ has seen an increase in captchas, DNS leaks, website denials, etc. Was generally pretty reliable prior.

I sleep now.
