I need a little advice. I want to start using a paid VPN service for torrenting and to change the region for netflix. Which service is the fastest, safest/most privacy and is the least likely to disconnect while downloading? I am also looking for a service that does not store/sell data…that and a lack of privacy are my biggest concerns.
After getting caught by my ISP whenever my previous VPNs dropped my connection I switched to Nord. I’m sure others have it as well, but I like the kill switch that’s built in to their software that dumps my torrenting software if the connection is lost. It’s been over a year and I have not received a single copyright violation letter, and suspension of service, like I had encountered in the past.
Mullvad. They’re the most recommended one here for a reason.
Tried em all, Mullvad hands down, maybe even split tunnel on windows soon
Mullvad. €5 a month ($6.08 U.S.). You can’t go wrong.
I have been using them close to 3 years, never had any problems and never had any copyright emails . I am seeding too
PrivateVPN is what I’m using.
Vpnunlimuted or fastestvpn
Litterally just bought Cyberghost for 3 years.
it has different country servers depending on your situation or task.
Torrenting, Gaming, Streaming the works.
Downloaded a 100GB torrent in less then 1 hr.
Bought 2 years of Nord & 3 years of TorGuard at the same time. I’m a dummy. I’ve only been using the Nord. The master killswitch & the app killswitch work well, and I’m glad to have the split-tunnelling so I can use my real location if need be. I use their Vancouver p2p servers (tho I’m in Calif) and Nordlyx always maxes out my IPS dl speed around 15 Mbps.
Seconded, Surfshark is great, it also has unlimited connections so if you leave a PC or laptop on that torrents 24/7 (downloading or seeding), you can leave the VPN on and not have to worry about using it on one less device.
What are you binding to? I thought is was the tap v9, but it doesn’t work. I put it on nordlynx and it worked. Not sure if it was protected. It had a different ip than what’s being shown in nord
I got an 1k fine in Germany I want to use nord VPN now could you tell me how you configured it
The worst possible choices.
sent that off before finished. What it’s missing is port forwarding, but not a big deal for me, I’ve no ratios to maintain.
You have a lot to learn.
I have it set to Nordlynx, and it seems to be working for me. I just find a website that tells me where my IP address is located. I always find it amusing when I’m on a random site and it tells me that I’m in X country and should use a VPN to protect/hide my identity, with X country being the one I’m accessing via Nord, which I guess tells me that I’m protected.
On the settings tab of the Nord app there is ‘kill switch’ section; on mine it’s the third one down. First I turned on the Internet kill switch which makes it so that internet access is disabled if I don’t have a VPN connection. Second, I turned on app kill switch and added a couple of apps that I don’t want to run if I lose VPN or Internet connection. The next step is to run a test. Launch an app that’s listed in the app kill switch list; you can use a dummy app, like notepad.exe, for testing if you wish. Kill the VPN connection and verify that Nord kills the corresponding app(s) listed under ‘app kill switch’. It’s been working perfectly for me.
My ISP has a habit of dropping the connection for a couple of minutes in the middle of the night. I don’t know if there’s a legitimate reason for this or if they’re just trying catch out those with low-quality VPNs. In the past, when they did this the VPN would drop but the torrenting apps wouldn’t, so when the connection came back online they would resume activity without protection. Now I don’t have to worry about that, and I just restart any closed apps in the morning.
I use the paid version and at least in my location there speeds are blazing fast. I also have NORD but I prefer WS.
Thank you so much that’s about how I configured it
