Just wanted to share this moment with you guys, the first run of my very first loop, is not perfect lol but is mine, thanks for the help.,for how much time do you recommend to run the leak test?
Lot of people say 24h, but Jayztwocents said that if it didn’t leak in first few hours, it’s not going to leak.
Congratulations, glad you made it. I usually just do like 2-4 hrs. of just running the loop. Then, if it doesn’t leak I just turn that puppy on and game for like 4-8 hrs. and just keep a close eye. If no leaks after that, I call it good. Very scientific. Good luck.
Watch out. It is not recommended to run the pump dry.

In my case, 4 months and a week.
Next time when you are first filling your loop and testing for leaks, only run the pump and nothing else. Mobo power cable shouldn’t be connected, use 24 pin PSU bridge tool or bypass yourself to get power. This way any leaks will have almost zero chance to damage your mobo or GPU.

EK makes a leak tester kit that I use. It’s a pressure system with a needle gauge You hook it up to any opening and pump air in with a hand pump, seal it off, let it sit for a little and check the needle gauge to see if pressure dropped. If it’s sealed for air it’ll be sealed for liquid. I have a distro block with several inlets so I just pick one that’s easy to access.

I’m with most everyone else here, I usually run it for a couple of hours and if everything looks good jump right in to it and keep a close eye. Most leaks will pop up right away, after that just keep an eye out for any stress points.

I’d also suggest the 4 h or so leak test. Anything that wouldn’t leak in that time frame would be a very slow leak and even that would be unlikely.
I recommend you get an actual leak testing device by ek or bitspower. This doesn’t really tell much because tubes will losen once the liquid heats up. If it’s not leaking air it won’t leak water. Rule of thumb, but Id recommend running for 24hrs to be honest. Three hours just isn’t enough.
Congratulations, all you need is a drain valve coming out from the T at the reservoir, is good to have in case you need to do any maintenance or decide to change color sometime in the future

I did something like 6 hours. Until it’s a reasonable time you don’t have to worry.
Stuff like fittings not tightened enough will be wisible nearly immediately. Stuff like PETG deforming and leaking is not something you will see by just running the loop wothout any system load.
Next time don’t turn on the pc. Just the pump
Personally I’d keep the paper towels in place and check them every 15 mins or so while enjoying your new build for a few hours. Never used a leak tester.

Ah! Please next time keep your finger on the power switch. As soon as it gets even close to the bottom turn off and refill. Don’t try to keep up as it runs.
