Is vpn illegal to use in Pakistan?

We are hearing news that vpn are blocked etc etc. Did govt ban the vpn? If govt didn’t ban then it is legal to use, right?

Everything that is illegal is still legal

They can’t get more than 20% of the population to pay taxes and you expect them to go out of their way to prosecute hundreds of thousands who use VPNs?

Banned on paper yet still used by everyone

No, using a VPN is not outright illegal in Pakistan, but there are restrictions. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has put regulations in place requiring individuals and businesses to register their VPNs with the government if they’re used for work purposes or other specific reasons. This allows the government to monitor internet usage more closely. However, many individuals still use unregistered VPNs to access restricted content.

So, while personal use of a VPN isn’t technically illegal, unregistered or unapproved use may lead to issues if it’s detected, especially if the government considers it to bypass national regulations or access banned content.

Everything is illegal in Pakistan… cant wait for steam to get banned eventually

use an app named 1.1.1.1 WARP Cloudfare, it works with almost any app and also keeps ur ip protected

No unless you are using it for commercial or business

Shhhh. Boys sab sun rahay Hain…

pm shohbaz is using vpn to post on x(twitter) lol

Absolutely these #### use vpn themselves to use Twitter i know these #### have double standards but using Twitter while prosecuting everyone will be too over the top and obvious

Then Mr. Shareef should be prosecuted bcz he’s always on X which is a banned content.

Steam is where I draw the line.

Can you elaborate on what this is

It’s not illegal to use a VPN commercially. In fact, many businesses rely on it.

He’s literally Mr government. You don’t think his VPN is registered with the… Government? The same one he’s leading?

It is not against the law in personal capacity(if data cap exceeds which it wont in personal capacity they would be considered commercial users)

It is against the regualtions but the law regardign this regulation is not fully enforced and most vpns do have features that allow them to bypass govt snooping for now. Yes many business use vpns without registering them to govt and I am not for it because FIA ka kabhi bhi dimag ghoom sakhta hai and can do a case against the business so if you are using it for business purposes better to register it to the govt

Hahah shareef or legal kam? Not gonna bet my money on that

I don’t think he knows how to button up his own blazer.

:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

I think he’s pregnant

I run a business that relies on VPNs. It’s simply not practical for me to report them cause they come and go quickly.

Like I said you can use it without registering but if you donot want to face inconvenience in the future which is a big if, then its better to register.

If your vpn data usage is low and every employee uses their own personal one then it might not create much issue in my opinion
