Is there any package (or somewhere to suggest building) new proton-vpn app?

Hi, gentoo and proton-vpn user here; i’ve been using proton-vpn-cli, but I don’t get if it’s supported or not now, because protont’s announce says that “proton-vpn-community” (?) is not supported now and informs about a new proton-vpn gui and/or cli app.

I’ve checked and the package included in gentoo repos is the older community version, so if someone knows about works or plans for the new app, gui or cli, thanks for pointing it out

There was a community made linux client called proton-vpn-community. It’s been replaced by an officially supported client.

yes, thanks, that’s what i’ve read. I’ve checked and the package included in gentoo repos is the community-discontinued one:

https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/net-vpn/protonvpn-cli

So I wonder if it will be changed/updated to the new app

I was bored when I got home and saw this message, so here is an archive with ebuilds I wrote for the new version. I don’t use protonVPN so I can’t test that it all works, but it compiles and runs for me.

Enjoy

thanks. just for curiosity, is here any link where I can learn to make ebuilds for gentoo? I’m noob at programming, but I could try

There’s not really any programming required, but you should understand how to build things from source.

Really noob question but can’t Gentoo install from AUR?

i guess no

gentoo has overlays and layman as some kind of alternative to that, maybe that’s what you’re looking for.
