Your account is blocked now? Considering you mentioned that you are blocked even when you turn it off.
Well, then you never ever get an objective answer
Thats a great tip for youtube in android thanks!
I just tried it on iOS but I still get ads
Correct! (which isn’t a DNS level blocker)
Its coming:
Apple TV support: Work has started, and we’re aiming for a summer 2024 release.

It does already work with 3rd party clients:

Youtube ads won’t be blocked though.
is that official by proton themselves? they confirmed YouTube ads won’t be blocked?
If so then I will have to go elsewhere where for Apple TV
Every other device I’m happy with protonVPN but Apple TV I must go with another provider if this is the case
is that official by proton themselves? they confirmed YouTube ads won’t be blocked?
Youtube ads cannot be blocked by DNS blocks. Proton is using DNS blocks.
so they haven’t confirmed this then? I’m not trying to be a d*** but I’m looking for some sort of hope that their Apple TV app will focus on YouTube ads, as what else do you need vpn for the Apple TV for other than changing regions for Netflix etc
There doesn’t need to be a confirmal. Youtube ads are served from the same URL as the video stream, thus youtube ads cannot be blocked by DNS blocking solutions, as you’d otherwise block the video stream too.
Netshield is a DNS blocking feature, in the same way as you cannot block youtube ads with PiHole, NextDNS, Quad9 and whatsoever.
Indeed exactly, changing regions would be a use case. One could also make use of regions where there are no youtube ads.
Can I dm a mod please or can I state the other apps name here? how does this other app do it then?? I can show proof that I’m getting no ads at all, if they’re not using dns block then what is it that they are using??
& thank you for clarification u/Nelizea
The mods will be unable to answer that question. You’ll need to speak with the app development team of the app you use to find out how it works.
It’s likely just a web browser with an adblocker extension which uses a variety of techniques to block ads. If YouTube ads are something you wish to stop seeing, you should pay for YouTube Premium. If you’re a heavy user then it’s worth paying for
If the price was £5 yeah sure but I’m not paying that hefty YouTube premium price just to get rid of ads lol I don’t need any other feature other than ad removal
I’ll just pay the one off price of £149 to get rid of ads for ever👍
Thanks anyway u/apmartin1991
