Is the paid version worth it?

Been using the free version for quite sometime now and thinking of switching over to the paid version. What are some contrasts between the two from your own EXPERIENCE?

Paid version has torrent servers & port forwarding support, which is great to speed up your torrent downloads.

They have double VPN server to increase your security although increase latency on network speed.

It has ad and tracker blocking while you browse, and all good stuff.

its great and worth it, and even better if you buy it yearly.

Yes

NetShield alone would be worth the money.

Well you have more servers to choose from and better speeds so if that’s important to you then yes it is worth it

ProtonVPN is great. The best VPN I’ve used among ExpressVPN, Mullvad and ProtonVPN. I got 2 ½ years for the price of 2 years on Black Friday. Really happy with it.

The server speeds are an upgrade. You get many servers in 90+ countries to choose from. Personal favourites, that the free plan does not include are secure core, more devices up to 10, split tunneling (on Windows and Android), servers optimised for streaming platforms and at last NetShield to block ads on DNS level.

Paid version makes it easy for you to watch Netflix and other streaming devices while you’re still on the VPN. If the free version works for you, there’s no reason to get the paid version. I prefer to use protons free servers over paid servers from other providers. It’s too good.

My experience, after over 3 years of using is, that it’s the best VPN I have ever used so far. I used ProtonVPN on Windows (active), Linux, Android and iOS (active).

I also really like Secure Core, a function where your traffic is redirected over two servers, which makes you even more hidden. The negative side here is, that the speed is slower.

You can setup port forwarding (really simple as well), custom DNS (desktop only afaik), use P2P, streaming or Tor enhanced servers and the UI is nice (personal opinion).

I, personally, can only recommend trying it out. Since using ProtonVPN, I feel more private and secure in the online world.

Hi, I also moved from free to paid but it only took me a day to make the switch paid will give you access to all VPN servers as well as torrenting and secure core servers. I mainly need access to UK specific sites so for me it was a nobrainer and so far in just over 2 months of joining Proton the service has been rock solid with decent speeds and no disconnections. Everything I use works fine for the most part through Proton including online banking and Iplayer and the odd time where I have a small issue this community has always answered quickly. I’m planning to get the 2 year plan soon.

Kinda. The speed is good but if you use it with Secure Core it’ll be slow. Get blocked by some websites but majority it works well

I think there is. One of the main reasons for me is the fact that you can actually get support somebody that knows what they’re doing…

Yes. I purchased the 3 year paid version during Black Friday, and I think it is a steal at that price. I have tried just about all the major VPNs out there, and ProtonVPN has been the most stable. It rarely goes down especially when using secure core servers. Works fantastic with my Ubiquiti security gateway.

1000% I’m still waiting for the app to come to the Apple TV AppStore, then it’s a whole new game for YouTube ads they should disappear:blush::woman_red_hair:

As with everything paid version you will get the fastest speed compared to free version!

Yes. They make it worth your while.

I was looking for a VPN a few months ago, went straight for the paid version, 2yr sign up. zero issues at all. Barely even notice when its on. Just checked and it’s been connected for over 3 days straight, current server is at 38% load.

Yes, more than worth it.

Since I needed to select specific countries I never tried the free version but I’m very happy with the paid version.

The main reason, you get to handpick servers. The free version frequently puts me in Netherlands (I’m in the US) and my banks and some other sites freak out thinking I got hacked. Also, if you want to use P2P you need paid account for that.

Hell yeah I have Proton Unlimited and its great!

not sure because nowadays many sites block it
