Knoxvpnprocessor is a part of Samsung Knox. Samsung claims that Knox is security software. However, there is something shady about what is ending up on Android devices. I recently found the Samsung Knox SDK installed on my phone. A legitimate SDK is not remotely useful on a users mobile device. SDK’s are only useful to developers as they are a set of tools for developing software. When a supposed SDK gets installed on your device, it is often malware masquerading as an SDK. These fake SDK’s appear harmless and sneak past device security. Once installed, they serve as a backdoor into your OS. Later on another app is installed. The 2nd app appears harmless as well and gets by all security. Now that both are on your device, they can interact and together they become a threat to you and your device. I cannot say with certainty what Samsung is up to. It is possible that Samsung’s claims are legitimate and the problem is simply poor documentation of what each app is and what it does. Unfortunately, the real answer is probably not so simple. Samsung has a long proven history of stealing users data. And my suspicion is that Samsung is attempting to bypass Google Play Protect. My advice to users is; be very careful with what you allow on your device. If an app seems questionable, don’t let it update. Disable and/or remove the app if possible. Watch your system for new instabilities. (If your device develops problems after disabling an app, then it’s usually an indication that the app was necessary.) Always report apps that seem malicious and take the time to tell Google why you are suspicious. (Hint: when reporting an app, Google will ask why. Select “Other” and it will allow you to describe your reason.)
Knox is a security system used in Samsung devices, but I’m not sure if Knoxvpn is a Samsung app, any Samsung owner can confirm?
