iPlayer banned my device

At least, I assume that’s what happened. I accidentally logged in with a VPN today and next thing you know, it won’t let me watch anything. When I logged in on my phone, it worked perfectly. I’ve sent a request to BBC, but I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to fix this myself? I’ve tried stuff like clearing my history, starting another account, etc., but nothing works. Anything I’m missing? And if not, how long should I expect to wait to hear back from them?

If this is the wrong sub to be posting in, kindly direct me to the correct one. I’d love to get this sorted.

Update: Thanks for the suggestions. Support got back to me basically saying it was nothing to do with their end. I logged back in the next day, it was like nothing had happened. Looks as if it was a weird, one-time (hopefully) glitch.

Turn off your VPN and log back in - that works for me, though it is a massive frustration and with many other sites also recognising my vpn now, it begins to make a mockery of paying for it for the extra security as you have to turn it off so frequently.

Turn off VPN, open a private tab in a browser, login. They can’t see your MAC address so individual device banning isn’t possible.

You said you’ve cleared your history. Did you clear the browser cache?

Assuming you are in the UK.

When I use a VPN that’s not a UK IP, I just need to clear my browser cache to be able to watch things again.

Sounds like an IP ban. You might have to talk to your ISP to get them to refresh your IP address.
