Installing NordVPN on Fedora Atomic

Installing NordVPN on Fedora Atomic

There was a post here recently asking for help with this. So I would be keen to hear about anyone else’s experiences with this. Does my modified script work for you too?

The other post was:

Not sure how difficult it would be to layer it…

If you’re going to be using the openvpn protocol, you can just download the ovpn configs files from nordvpn and connect using the network manager gui without installing anything in your system.

I found the nordvpn cli app to be very unreliable. The connection wouldn’t resume after suspend, killswitch wouldn’t work, etc so I gave up on it.

I don’t think so. I know Proton have a free version if you wanted to give that a try?

I haven’t personally used it myself. But let me know if you end up trying it out and it’s good.

Yeah, that’s pretty nice. Although, I have found recently that a lot of the IPs NordVPN is using are known to everyone who would like to block VPNs. Netflix for example is all over them. At least with the client, it picks a new server in the region most times and I don’t need to manually cycle through manually configured connections.

But I agree, the experience isn’t as clean.

This is the approach I’ve been taking and it works like a charm :man_shrugging:
