While the usage of Tor might be illegal then, it will always work. China also tried to block Tor but circumventing with bridges is no issue. Either via a private bridge from Telegram or simply via Snowflake.
I believe it is the Prime Minister Modi that is “in charge” and the wish to discriminate against the Muslims.
Bold of you to assume he cares what people on Internet do. And I think he is a great man for hindus, hindus were discriminated in their own land for thousand years but he is giving them hope.

Then why did so many Hindus and Muslims kill each other with the independence of India? I do realize that the killings were the result of centuries of conflict, similar to the killings between Catholics and Protestants. Can’t we just call a halt to all the violence and hatred?
Why? There’s nothing there and it’s just a lazy person that copied and pasted something they found off Google.
Then why did so many Hindus and Muslims kill each other with the independence of India?
Muslims were given 2 nations but Hindus weren’t given any. India was a nation for hindus but leaders decided to make it secular for sake of muslims. Hence there isn’t any country for hindus but 53 for muslims
Yes, you can find the link to the Tor Project’s recommendation to not use a VPN on Google.
If you think you know more about Tor than the Tor Project, go right ahead and disregard them.
You’ll never be an anthropologist with that attitude.
Yes, I should expect Tor Project to say you have to use additional software to safely use their own. No bias there whatsoever.
Every time I use Google they’re always telling me to use a different search engine because there’s other ones that are more private. Just like when I use Signal they’re always telling me Telegram is better and vice versa.
What does that mean?
OK, so you do think you understand Tor better than the people who maintain and release Tor and the Tor browser. They don’t have enough experience in doing this and you do.
So, why not create a better alternative with all your great wealth of knowledge?
I don’t even know what argument you’re trying to make but the link on their website actually recommends using a VPN in certain scenarios. Have you read it?
Yes, I have. Those certain scenarios apply for only a small minority of users, which neither of us are in.
Wait, are you taking the Tor Project seriously now? I thought you said they were wrong.
You can route Tor through VPN/SSH services. That might prevent your ISP etc from seeing that you’re using Tor
Oh yeah cause such a small number of people want that!
There’s a very small number of people who need to do that to the extent that it outweighs routing your traffic through a commercial VPN service.
Why don’t you email the Tor Project to tell them that they’re wrong, if you think you know better?
How am I saying they’re wrong? I’m agreeing with them! Maybe read the page again?
You aren’t agreeing with them, because you are not what they term an “advanced user who knows how to configure both in a way that doesn’t compromise your privacy.” and the advice is not relevant to you.
You’ve misinterpreted their advice as people who want to hide Tor usage from their ISP, and that there is no downside to doing so.
There is a downside to doing so, because using a VPN service means routing all your traffic through someone else’s computer.
The only time it’s a good idea for someone to do this is where a) they know exactly what they’re doing and b) they live somewhere where usage of Tor is illegal. You satisfy neither of those requirements.
Oh yeah, so “advanced” to know how to use a VPN. Speak for yourself.
If you look at it objectively, the only net positive of not using one is better latency. Privacy and anonymity can only go up because it would be impossible for a VPN to know or log more of your internet usage than an ISP.
