Hulu Live at vacation home

My main residence is in South Carolina. I have a vacation home in North Carolina which I go to about 10 weekends a year. I currently have DirecTV but will switch to a streaming service. I will get home internet at my vacation home. Will Hulu live work at both places?

At your vacation home when opening Hulu Live on another TV like a Roku or Apple TV for example, you will be required to update your home location because it will recognize an IP address change. Which you can do, but I think there is a limit of 4 times a year you can do this. Or you can watch it on your phone or tablet without having to update your home location.

The way I do it, at home I have a router that supports VPN connections. I have an almost identical router that connects to my home router I take with me when I go on vacation. It has the same WiFi name, etc… When I get to where I am going I plug it in and it automatically connects back home and my Roku streams Hulu over the VPN perfectly fine, but because it is going over a VPN it thinks I am at home when I am not.

I have been doing this for years. And it works fine for my needs. Mostly I did it due to not wanting to use public WiFi anywhere when traveling, I wanted a safe internet connection for my Surface Book, iPad, etc… then one year I took a Roku with me because I was curios if it would work and sure enough it works fine. However my home internet connection is fiber so my upload is pretty fast. If I had a slower connection it probably wouldn’t work that great.

Honestly, YTTV works better for vacation homes

Hulu Live will allow you to change your “home” zip code 4 times in a calendar year. Alternative option is to cast to the TV at your vacation home from the Hulu app (i.e. can’t watch Hulu Live directly on the TV app) but you will need to open the Hulu app at your home (and connect to WiFi) before leaving for your vacation home because if you don’t do that every 30 days, it will say “you need to log in on my home network on your phone to verify the home location” once you get to your vacation home.

Limit four times a year for address changes

I’ve had Hulu live a few months and have only traveled a couple times. When I have traveled I have only been able to watch live on my phone.

I travel in an RV frequently. You can cast it to a chromecast device from your phone. I have occasionally gotten a message saying I need to log in on my home network on my phone to verify the home location. It works pretty good.
