How to use vpn for a subscription

Surely it’s not going to get much cheaper than that?

It’s €11.99 per month in the Netherlands.
Indian & Turkish accounts get Pro for below €50 per year.

When using in-app purchases, they determine availability based on your IP and pricing is based on regional pricing of your associated app store account - as F1TV needs to enter values for all regions, where they want a different regional price.

Currently when doing the in-app purchase they cannot check for the account country, which is why this bypass works to get cheaper subscriptions.

Same, I’m UK based and got it from Netherlands with VPN. Not the best price but I didn’t have to mess around changing region in my Google account.

Ok I had issues here too, but I’m in the US, so I don’t know if it’ll be different. I signed out completely out of my apple id and app store on my phone. I then went to the apple app store to create a new id, selecting India as the country. I still used my normal US number and an Indian hotel address like you did, making sure that the state and zip code were good. I had to play with it a bit because it tried to enter my number in an Indian format. I changed the format to US but it still let me maintain India as the country. When I did all that, it sent a code to my phone, and then I was good. I also had to make a new Gmail account (and verify it) to link to the new id.

If you’re still getting the error, is the device you’re making the new apple id on supported by the latest iOS? I previously tried using an old ipad that was no longer supported in the current app store, and I got the same error. I couldn’t get past the phone number/code step. When I followed the same steps on my updated phone though, no error.

I know others have done it on the Google play store with Android devices, but I’ve never tried.

I tried, came really far but had some issues with the gift card. Google needed more details on the card. I assume if you get a working gift card it should work.

It worked for me on March 2nd. My debit card wouldn’t work to buy a gift card on Amazon.in but then I tried my American Express, and it went through instantly.

You need a Indian Google account and pay through Google. Don’t need a VPN at all, that won’t help you.

The webpage shows the price based on IP location - you still need a local payment method to subscribe from that region.

The app shows you the price based on your google/apple account location and availability based on your IP address.

Oh god, that’s disgusting. That’s almost 2.5x more expensive. What the hell?

Great!, give it a try and tell me how it did! It’s literally one of the best I’ve found on the market and lets you do “decentralized” stuff.

For example, let’s say you’re living in the United States and you want to sign up for a Netflix subscription.

Argentina’s currency has been experiencing high inflation, around 20% a month, which means Netflix is cheaper there.

Here’s when NordVPN comes in. You change your IP to an Argentinian network, and then subscribe to Netflix for a lower price (10 dollar discount, at least).

Anyway, here’s the link to the VPN: www.nordvpn.com

Ive now tried with android. Came really close until google needed more info on the gift card. If that gets accepted it should work. So time will tell

The problem isn’t buying the gift card, that’s the easy part. You can just do it via Amazon with creditcard from Revolut for example. You can’t use the gift card balance for f1 tv pro, because you also need local banking. I also asked it via apple support and they told me you need both for making purchases in-app. I don’t have a clue how it got through at your end.

So my visa credit card wont work for it? I can make a new google account for it, thats not a problem

It always was like 65 a year. Then it went to 95 this year until a month ago when they decided to remove the option to get a yearly subscription and only make it possible to get a monthly one for 11.90.

I had a subscription through google play. A yearly one. Got an email in february saying that they had a price change (65 to 95, not the best but it is what it is). Accepted the price change. Wasnt charged yet but a day before it shouldve renewed (automatically) i got another email from both google play and F1 tv that my subscription would not be renewed. Contacted both but they kept pointing fingers at who to contact. Google said F1 and vice versa. I gave up the battle and went looking for help on reddit when i found the option to use something like vpn. So hopefully i can get this to work in order not to have to spend 140 bucks a year.

Getting one through Amazon wasn’t so bad. Just needed to change the region in my account settings. One of my cards would’ve work but then my American express did. Not sure why. Good luck!

Weird, once I purchased the gift card (and I had created the new apple account) I simply redeemed it in the app store by entering the digital code. Then I went to the F1TV app, selected annual pro, and it just deducted it from the balance on that apple account.

No it won’t. You’ll have to buy Google Play India Store credit and pay using that method most likely. Not 100% if it worked but others reported that it worked for the App Store. g2a.com sell them.

As i keep saying it depends on the region - as other regions have different payment providers & other laws, so you’ll see once you try it.

But most likely for “cheaper” countries you’ll need local gift cards & payment methods - as people have been abusing it for regional pricing for over a decade, for both Apple & Google own services as well as for others, so Apple and Google are restricting the accounts & credits to regional gift cards, where there is a notable difference in regional purchasing power.

Just as an additional info, the first 2 digits of your credit card determine the card type.
The next 4 identify the country and banking institution so it’s relatively easy to validate your registration country through the cc you use when subscribing via webpage.

I’d suggest to just get the Indian Google account set up and try it. I did it during the opening weekend in Bahrain and got it working without needing a card from India or gift cards.

I did also use BlueStacks (Android emulator) to make sure no trace of my regular account or region was there, but its up to you if you want to do that.

I hope you find a solution. Best of luck!
