It’s super easy in the desktop app, how TF do you do it in the mobile app?
Some of us newbies would like to know how to do it in the desktop ver. As well .
Thanks
What does obfuscation mean? I’m running latest PIA on two mobiles one running android9 and other with 11. This obfuscation option is present in android 9 and not in 11.
Has anyone found an answer for this yet?
For anyone still wondering, you have to choose OpenVPN instead of WireGuard for the option to appear
I’m struggling with the same issue.
There’s an obfuscation option available in settings, which has “connect via proxy” as the only option. This then prompts you to select “the app you are using to connect”.
This tells me we need another application of some kind to bounce the connection through. I haven’t had any luck past this point.
If you want the obfuscation use Orxy in the android it’s works perfectly
Answer directly from Private Internet Access website…
Obfuscation,:
Connect via Proxy - this allows you to connect certain apps through the PIA App Proxy, i.e. torrent apps.

Install the tor project’s orbit app. Setup and allow others to connect to tor through your device. When you start and connect you’ll get socks and http port numbers. Enable obfuscation in pia app and select orbit as the proxy app. Configure the port as either the socks or http port provided in orbot.
If I remember correctly, go into settings, hit multi-hop and obfuscation, and turn it on
Obfuscation is the obscuring of the intended meaning of communication by making the message difficult to understand, usually with confusing and ambiguous language. The obfuscation might be either unintentional or intentional (although intent usually is connoted), and is accomplished with circumlocution (talking around the subject), the use of jargon (technical language of a profession), and the use of an argot (ingroup language) of limited communicative value to outsiders. In expository writing, unintentional obfuscation usually occurs in draft documents, at the beginning of composition; such obfuscation is illuminated with critical thinking and editorial revision, either by the writer or by an editor.

I switched it and still can’t find the option…
Gold star if you come back and tell me you found an answer. I can get obfuscation to work on my laptop and PIA, but not with the android app on the same network. I run into the same
“select the app you are using to connect”.
And that’s where it all ends. Laptop is just a click and it works.
can you explain how to use it with pia please
I thought this setting was so you can proxy the openvpn traffic through an obfuscation layer like v2ray/vmess or stunnel or wstunnel etc to defeat firewalls that block PIA.
But it’s for torrent apps?
Stupid bot. Not like, what does it mean, but what does in mean in regards to the PIA client. Bet you don’t know that, stupid bot.
If you enable WireGuard, the Obfuscation option under settings disappears. Apparently obfuscation via a proxy app is only intended to work with the OpenVPN protocol.
The android app is pretty bare bones. Never did get it to work, sorry
I’ve read that we should be choosing WireGuard over OpenVPN now, but also read that we should be using multi-hop obfuscation proxy. So which one is it if PIA can only use one or the other?
You are cool for responding. Thank you. I may have to jump ship on PIA. Been using them for years, but this won’t do.
