Do I only find out my account is restricted when I try to redeem some points? I don’t really want to redeem as I want to save up for something bigger. So, will redeeming for donation or participating in a draw do the trick too? I just want to use as few points as possible. Thanks for any input.

didn’t know if going off suggested searches would get ya restricted or not.
It seems Microsoft is restricting people against external redemtions.
This means if you try redeeming something unrelated to Microsoft, e.g. a Starbucks gift card, then they won’t let you redeem it.
BUT attempting to redeem something related to Microsoft, e.g. an Xbox gift card, it lets you redeem that.
Annoyingly there isn’t really a good way of testing if your account is restricted but to attempt to redeem something external.
The only thing I have tested to work is that you can get an xbox/microsoft card and then use that to buy something with, like robux as the microsoft store version let’s you use xbox credit.
I’m starting to think their account restrictions is less so that you broke their TOS, especially since people are randomly getting restricted without using a bot, and more to stop them from having to spend actual money on other companies.

Check the Shopping game if its getting disappeared then account is restricted.
what do you mean by it? how do I know my account is restricted by looking at my email??
That would make sense, except that many countries don’t have Microsoft store rewards.

I cashed in $100 for Amazon GC, $75 for Walmart GC and $100 Target GC over a 5-day span and had no issues. Account still not restricted, and I still have 149k points. Therefore, they aren’t restricting or banning people because they have “a ton of points” and they certainly aren’t restricting people from buying non-Microsoft merch or GCs.
I also don’t use VPN to buy outside my market, I haven’t used a script or other method to cheat the system, and there are 5 total accounts in my family all of which are used by different people. None of us have had any issues ever.

I’ve read here that using script for shopping games in old days could lead to restriction. So I’d like to confirm I’m clean before putting more effort in.
Not true my shopping game has been disabled but I redeemed just fine, my wife’s shopping game works but her account has been restricted.
