GUIDE: How to play Lost Ark in India? (or in other countries where it isn't available)

Alright so there’s two ways to do this, the first way is the short and straight forward way which shouldn’t take much effort at all. While the second is also quite straight forward but it’s meant for people who want to play Lost Ark using their main Steam account. If you have any problems, feel free to DM me on Reddit.

Method 1: [Creating a brand new Steam account]

  1. Download a VPN, the choice is upto you. If you know a VPN that you trust and use constantly, go ahead and use it. I personally used UrbanVPN.
  2. Open up a browser, go into Incognito mode.
  3. Turn on the VPN and choose a location - one of these should work: Germany, Sweden, United States or United Kingdom
  4. Go to https://store.steampowered.com/ - Create a new account
  5. Open up a new tab, google: “lost ark steam”, head to the official Lost Ark Steam page
  6. Click “Play Game”, it should be added to your account.

Now this alone, should be fine as Lost Ark is a free 2 play game. So you can create the account in a different region using VPN, claim the game and you should be fine.

Now from here you can do two things:

  1. Open up Steam while still having the VPN on. Then login into the newly created account and see if you can directly download the game. If this works, great!
  2. Or…if you were facing some issue where the download starts for a millisecond and cancels out, you need to try and download the game by clicking “Play Game” from the Lost Ark steam page on the browser

Once the Download starts and it pops up in your Steam downloads, pause the download, turn off the VPN and then resume the download. You should now be able to download the game fully using the closest Steam server!

So this is the easiest way to get into Lost Ark.

Method 2: [Adding Lost Ark to your main Steam account where the Country/region is probably India]

Now this is a bit more annoying but the first few steps stay the same. In fact, do the same right until Step 3 from [Method 1]

  1. [Check Method 1]
  2. [Check Method 1]
  3. [Check Method 1]
  4. Login to your Steam account in the browser.
  5. Go to the Store frontpage and choose any game, I chose Dying Light 2. Add it to cart ^((Don’t worry you’re not buying Dying Light 2 to Play Lost Ark xD))
  6. Now on top of the billing screen, you’ll see an option called “Currency” with a dropdown, select the currency based on the VPN location you chose
  7. A prompt will appear that asks whether your billing address is in India or in the new location, make sure to select the option that your billing address is a new location/changed
  8. Now after you have selected that, don’t do anything on that screen. Open up a new tab → Google: “Lost ark Steam” → Head to the Official Lost ark Steam page and just click “Play Game” (Your Steam account should already be logged in, in the new tab)

From here, it follows the same as [Method 1]

You can either:

  1. Open up Steam while still having the VPN on. Then login into your account and see if you can directly download the game. If this works, great!
  2. Or…if you were facing some issue where the download starts for a millisecond and cancels out, you need to try and download the game by clicking “Play Game” from the Lost Ark steam page on the browser which will then lead to a browser pop up to start steam and download the game

Again, just like in [Method 1], once the Download starts and it pops up in your Steam downloads, pause the download, turn off the VPN and then resume the download. You should now be able to download the game fully using the closest Steam server!

I hope this helps you guys to install and play a pretty cool game like Lost Ark, I’ve already put countless hours into the game and it’s truly a shame that Smilegate and Amazon Game Studios didn’t do enough to try and publish this game in India where they could have certainly got a huge following.

Again, if you face any issues, DM the issue on Reddit and I’ll try to help you out!

Happy Lost ark-ing folks!

Edit:

One more thing to add:

I would suggest creating your characters in the EU West region and choosing either Moonkeep or Stonehearth as your server. Both of these are primarily English servers. The ‘unofficial’ International servers if you will

You can still choose any other server you want but just note that there are more regionalized players on there.

Hi u/DarkSlayerEdge, Thanks for this. Really want to try this game out but can’t this lead to a possible ban of steam account?

Which server to choose for lowest ping?

Will this permanently change my Steam region?

Is there any update on the ping and the server??
I jst downloaded the game… don’t know what to do

Hi guys I’m facing a problem, when I click play now from the browser it’s just asking me to open steam and if i click open steam it will try to open steam and it says I’m currently offline(urbanvpn with US). If i use vpn and open steam it says I’m currently offline.
Anyways I tried turning off the vpn to see wether the game is added into my account but it isn’t there in my library. Any idea guys?

Getting the same or higher ping in eu west

Somehow i followed method 1 and it asked to open steam, i opened steam and my main account of indian region was logged in and it started downloading on it (indian region acc.) so i followed method 1 but got the results of method 2!

i decided to play too (i’m from india). Are there any record of anyone getting banned or something of a consequence for playing from india yet? I just used by main account and if i lost this account i’ll be devastated…

Hi guys I’m a fan of mmropg but all my freinds are boobs i got. O one to play with can anyone please add me to their party so i can have indian freinds to play with , ty :hugs:

Yo thanks for taking your time to do this man, you da real mvp!

Unfortunately this isn’t working for me. I was able to reach the “Play Game” button on my browser (free opera vpn ftw) but once it launches steam, it immediately takes me to the “oops sorry!” page. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

I downloaded using method 2 , but now it says “unable to provide you with access from your current location”

Just did this and the game is downloading. Just a tip, don’t search lost ark in steam, it won’t show up. Instead, search it on steam website (after logging in) and with VPN (just download any VPN with 7 days trial) and it will ask you to open the app (make sure to log in that too with a new account with EU or la as region). Also while making the account, it will ask you to close your VPN, close it as it will not affect your game downloading process.

Summary -

  1. get free VPN (7 day trials)

  2. make new account on steam website with VPN on (on incognito)

  3. log in with that account in steam app

  4. go back and search lost ark on the website, and it will redirect you to the app

  5. download the game.

I want to join Indian ark server can anyone have ?

do we need vpn while installation ( taking like 6 hrs)

Hi, any EU-Central players wanna party up? Looking for active players for raids

Btw keep in mind that EU West has better ping but has very low population which can affect matchmaking and finding parties.
