Google One VPN and Pokémon Go

Hey there. I tried to search for an answer for this on Google and Reddit, and all I saw were spoofing sites on Google and nothing here. So here is my question:

I subscribe to Google One 2TB storage. I just found out that Google One VPN is included with this service, so I turned it on on my iPhone earlier today. It just occurred to me that a VPN might be an issue with Pokémon Go. I’m not a spoofer, I’ve never spoofed, and I have no desire to ever spoof. I just want a more secure phone connection.

Am I safe with Google One VPN?

Thanks!

I’ve used a college campus VPN nearly continuously for a few years without ever been given any consequences

I’m not sure of the answer, but does the app not use the GPS location?

Using a VPN is generally safe. Most phone providers use a sort of VPN connection between their data centers and their cell towers anyway. Niantic would not be able to tell the difference.

I’ve had VPN on a few times while using Pokemon GO & I haven’t had any issues or anything happen. If you’re worried about this then knock VPN off before using Pokemon GO.

I had Google fi VPN and Pokemon Go together for 2 years. Never faced issues

Using VPN is the only way to play go in the non geo blocked areas in China

I’ve used plenty of VPNs and switched several times between different countries inside hours (IP, not GPS) and pogo doesn’t care.

Curious to see the answers to this. I had VPN enabled until yesterday because I read you could get softbanned because of that. My GPS drifted a lot when I had it on, I assumed a ban would hit me and disabled it. However, I wish to know if my worries were well founded or am I safe to have VPN enabled on my phone while playing PoGo.

GPS is unaffected. Connectivity is spotty for the VPN, so I might wind up turning it off anyhow.

I don’t know about the VPN in general, but I used to play on a phone that had a lot of drift, and I’ve never had any ban issues (data set of one).

Good to know. Even with VPN disabled my phone still drifts. I finished a set of GBL and when I went back to map screen I was a couple of blocks further from where I actually was.
