Getting a 406 Screen while using PIA VPN

I’m stationed overseas for a little bit and wanted to watch things on Paramount Plus which I have been using for a while stateside. If I try to login without a VPN, it just has me sign up for their newsletter for when it’ll become available since Paramount Plus isn’t an option here in Korea. With PIA VPN active, it has been working fine for about two weeks. However, very recently, every time I go to to login into the site, the website turns all white and says “406 Not Acceptable.” No matter what I’ve done, the same error message comes up.

I’ve tried different browsers, looking through PIA settings, using different internet companies, different routers, etc. Nothing works.

Am I overlooking something? Is there something I can alter within PIA? Did Paramount Plus just flag my account and I’m screwed? I am tempted to find an alternative VPN since coworkers of mine have said they can still watch things (one mentioned using ExpressVPN but many folks online have said to avoid that one). But I wanted to explore options with what I have set up now before going that route.

Looking for any advice. Thanks!

Try different server. The IP of the server you are using has been flagged as a VPN IP.

Sorry I can’t help here, but just to say I’m UK based and this has started happening with me now too.

Would love to know a solution!

Same here, today I tried to connect and get that error.
Looks like P+ detects the VPN now

The same thing has been happening to me for a few days, I also tried to buy a dedicated IP address but always got a 406 error.

Any news there? Getting same issues

  • how do I cancel my subscription if I cannot access my account? Thanks

I use ExpressVPN and was getting the exact same error (406), no matter what server in the US I connected to. After playing with different settings, I was able to get it to work by choosing the “Lightway —TCP” protocol. All working now from Mexico. Hope this helps!

I’ve got the same problem, I’m in the UK and was using a foreign version of Paramount+ with a PureVPN to watch sports coverage that they had the rights to and it worked brilliantly for a long time but recently I’ve been getting a 406 Not Acceptable and can’t access it. I assume that Paramount+ really tightened up their geo blocking. Would love to get it working again.

I’m having the same issue with Pia, sometimes I get to pass the 406 error and watch normal content like movies and series, but it always fail to some sport events, with the message “you are using a vpn or proxy”.

Before this i had surfshark and had a lot less issues with paramount+

Any news, I’m still in time for the 30 day money back

I fixed mine with using a Los Angeles server. App connected now on my apple tv.

Reporting the same issue. Any luck fixing this? I want to be able to watch big brother on paramount+ live for east coast from the west coast

I turned of my VPN on my AppleTV, was able to log in, and then turned the VPN back on, and it has been working for me.

Can confirm using Illinois server worked in getting Paramount+. I was also told that California and Florida work too.

I can confirm California (San Francisco) server works for Paramount +.

I use Nord VPN. Noticed that on chrome browser, I get the error on P+; but when I use Edge browser, I get through to P+. Everytime I tried. Same VPN server (Nord NYC). Chrome gets error, Edge is fine. That I do not understand.

Try Edge browser. Works when Chrome says that 406 error

NordVPN works fine for me, have to cycle through servers sometimes but a few in, jobs a good ‘un!

Dude, it does this to me on my laptop even after I turn my VPN off. Like just having it downloaded is bad enough.

Just want to say I encountered this problem in Germany. I have an American account, downloaded a series for a trip, and it stopped letting me access suddenly. I turned off location services, went in with a VPN, but I had to switch servers a couple of times to get it to work. Signed in successfully, my downloads are back. I turned off the WiFi so this won’t happen again this week (hopefully.)
