FortiClientVPNOnlineInstaller Error with Image Download

So I’ve tried to install the FortiClientVPN from the official website but I always get the same error:

“Fehler beim Image download.”

I get the same error on every computer.

Can anyone help?

Late to the party here, but my solution to this issue was to uninstall the old version first. Not sure why this is required, but as soon as I uninstalled the existing version it all worked.

Download the offline installer from the support portal.

If you are struggling to install Forticlient with the online installer image, the offline installer will be placed here - C:\ProgramData\Applications\Cache.

I was struggling installing Forticlient with the online installer, and found the .msi in the mentioned folder. Ran that and it installed correctly.

I just want to use the VPN from FortiClient. That should be free to use or not?

you don’t need to be a partner. You do need a support contract. it’s in the same section as the firmware images just make sure you grab forticlient vpn (the filename should look like
FortiClientVPNSetup_7.0.7.0345_x64.exe).

I’ve found the online installer to be slow as… I always post the vpn installer on our internal portal for people not on our mdm.

So if I’m working for a consulting company and I register there it’s still free or do I need to pay something?

If you register the fortigate and have an active support contract that’s all you need. Fortinet SSO

So my company is a microsoft partner, that should be enough right?

no, you need a fortinet support contract. This has nothing to do with microsoft.

The other option is look in the tmp folder when you run the online installer. once it finishes downloading and starts the real installer you’ll have the offline installer in your user tmp folder. the mac installer goes somewhere else but it’s more or less the same where there’s a pkg file.

Okay, I guess I can’t be using FortiClient VPn then since I dont have a support contract with fortinet.
