Recently spun-up a whole slew of alt-accounts thanks to the expansion sale, and am now running into what I suspect many serious alt fanciers face: The login server gradually slowing to an absolute standstill, once enough accounts have been signed into.
My first ~10 or-so accounts launched through Gw2Launcher start-up almost immediately, as one would expect. Accounts 11-22 or so take a tiny bit longer, but nothing to be alarmed about. After my 23rd-25th account, however, each log-in attempt slows down considerably; until by my 33rd, it’s outright impossible to sign-in to any of my accounts whatsoever (including my main if I hadn’t launched it prior), without waiting a long while for things to “cool down”, so-to-speak.
Considering I’ve read some folks here sport 100-200+ accounts they cycle through for the sake of login rewards, there must be some way around this real annoyance, right?
Pretty new to the alt-juggling game, so forgive me if this is a well-answered question by now. Many thanks for your time!
Vpn. I’ve got my accounts grouped in batches of 10 and labeled with what vpn server they use. (First 12 are done without vpn). I also have gw2launcher set to launch 5 at a time and recharge 1 account every 10 seconds after 1 closes.
So I connect to vpn, select 10 accounts, press launch, collect login rewards exit, after they are all closed change server, rinse, repeat.
Don’t do it as fast. I have 18 accounts. I don’t generally run them all at once. There’s a cooldown between each one. Not long, like 20 seconds. I’m mostly just using them for log in rewards, sometimes an easy daily or mystic forge daily. When I’m playing one it’s usually the one I’m playing.
Sometimes I’ll take a couple of alts together through a story instance, but that’s it. Hope this helps.
Either VPN or pace yourself. If you have an alternate computer or are able to multilaunch (sounds like this isn’t a problem) then consider multi-launching alongside your main one at a time between activities as well.
rather than playing around with some random VPN, which could get your accounts blocked for security reasons if you’re not careful with setting a location, there are still plenty of countries where static IPs aren’t the norm, so just reconnecting your router suffices there.
Never saw a guide, but you can find a few free VPNs or find a deal giving you a lifetime subscription for a VPN (I got a lifetime subscription to zoogvpn for like $20 from a PC magazine deal a few years ago but really any VPN service should work). Your goal is basically to change your IP address every 10 accounts so arenanets DDOS protection doesn’t kick in.
From there you can log into 10-12 accounts without using your VPN without issue. For every batch of 10 accounts past that just pick a VPN server to connect to. I recommend using the same server for any given account to save yourself some hassle. I also recommend turning on 2 factor authentication if you haven’t yet for the extra accounts. Gw2launcher has a feature you can enable allowing it to generate the 2fa codes and you can long right click to paste it in the box when logging in.
Mystic coins and laurels both. Laurels can buy bags of mats to send to your main account. I’ve made a lot of legendaries and mystic coins and mats are two of the big monetary components.
I could buy gems and convert to gold, but buying an account gives me more bang for the buck because it never really ends.
I have not, but I also looked through the code base before ever entering an account. If you have concerns then don’t use it or link your 2fa to something else so if something were to happen then your account would still be secure due to the 2fa code.
To Clarify you should always check stuff out yourself if there might be a chance of anything happening. You shouldn’t just take my word on it.
Thank you for your help. I do have a question, does this break EULA? Did Anet give it the ok? I only ask because I created an account, but can’t seem to log into it on the web, only in launcher/game. I don’t want to spend money if they end up closing the account.
That’s odd about not being able to log into the website, you may want to contact support about that.
There’s nothing in the EULA preventing having multiple accounts. Playing multiple accounts at the same time is called multiboxing and the wiki has all the details as well as links to documentation about their stance. Multiboxing - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W)
Biggest rule to follow is one button press = 1 action on 1 account. If you press w only one character should move forward. I alt tab when doing daily logins so my mouse click only applies to the active account
