yeah ive been using mullvad for 10 + years… it was way nicer when they allowed port forwarding.
but its still in the top of solid vpns… and has been for a long time.

i have yet to set my network up for wireguard. i use openvpn.
Nope - WG will identify you and activate the 5 devices rule. Open VPN will not - you can add as many devices as you like
Can’t they just run a check every time a new connection is created to see how many keys are in use at the moment? They can easily do this without logging it. Anyways, I’ve moved on to Proton. Really happy with it. Even bought the full unlimited suite. It’s nice to not have to worry about the number of logins anymore. They do a 10-device limit and I’m yet to even use 3 connections at the same time, but I’m logged in to at least 8 devices at this point.
You can set wire guard up on a router and then tunnel all local traffic through the wire guard interface with a firewall rule … nftables would be able to do it … and still not trigger the 5 device limit .
