Express VPN it's a shame. What's next? Any good alternatives?

I have been with Express about two years and the service was getting better every update. I told at least 10 people to use it. But now I have serious concerns on their new direction.

Any suggestions on a similar alternative would be greatly appreciated.

I’m with you on that. I’ve been with Express VPN for about 5 years. I’m trying to decide whether to stay or go. If I do decide to leave I’ll probably go with Surfshark. I was thinking of Nord VPN but their recent data breach has turned me off.

Same thing with me  Used Expressvpn for almost 4 years and canceled it because of their new direction :/I tried Nordvpn and now WeVpn but they are so slow that I am not going to continue paying for them. ( I was getting like 300Mbps/500Mbps with Expressvpn but Nordvpn and Wevpn are dancing between 18-70Mbs and pages are loading forever  )Not sure what else to try.

Unfortunately I paid I think 6 months? Ahead, so I’m stuck with them until January. I was hoping that they dont take over until at least that time

For what purpose did you use it? Netflix? If yes, just stay. But if you thinking about your anonymity, forget. Its a very easy to check your connection. However, NO ONE VPN provider warranty that your data are not keeping on their log. Even, proton recently given details to the government by request. Don’t believe for condition which they have on their site. Really VPN is when you build by yourself. Eventually use proxy server.

All you guys are giving different alternatives but which I can use with a router? I don’t want to use an app.

I use ProtonVPN there very secure I use there services with OpenVPN and it great. I use them for most part for security, they also have other perks, but I have complete trust with them. Go read there Blog

The proton situation was down to proton mail. The Swiss government gave them no option, as for their VPN service, the audits and open source software are transparent enough for me. Even when they do have to hand stuff over they have nothing of any substance to hand over - emails… that’s a different ball game.

All research on the web seems to indicate they’re ALL getting you to pay them to collect your web history. I checked after dumping Express. Everyone recommends using TOR while we await ethics. That’s what I do…

Windscribe vpn for me right now its the best vpn on the market

Mullvad, Proton VPN (very good reputation and privacy) or Sentinel (don’t know that much about it, it’s pretty new and based on blockchain → decentralised)

Try PureVPN I am using for last 6 months. Flexible pricing and good options for streaming.

I did a search on ProtonVPN and they seem to be one of the best alternatives. Non US based company and with a good reputation. I just downloaded their free version and will evaluate it during the next week.

Try changing servers with Nord. I use it and always get 450mpbs on my iPhone using Denver server

I am trying ProtonVPN. Have a look at it.

Try their Nordlynx protocol.

They were bought by an adlink company based in Israel and one of their directors has been indicted on hacking charges for a foreign government. Just do a search on it and you will get the full info.

They will merge your details in their own database. If you leave after they do that then it wont matter since companies retain data after you leave.

I am in the same situation, looking for a good router image solution - ExpressVPN, especially with their most recent update has been good.

BEFORE anyone mentions using DD-WRT and OpenVPN, realize that the modules they use have serious compatibility issues with many devices, browsers (for GUI access), sadly, the developer of those modules not longer updates them (if I recall).

Same after express incident, i went with proton. They have a lot of customisation options in settinsg. Till now, it is good.
