do eset home solutions have 0 day detection and how does this compare to the business solution (advanced protect I think) they offer? Thanks.
Yes, any even remotely modern AV does.
ESET’s business ‘advanced threat defense’ is ESET LiveGuard Advanced. The consumer/home equivalent is ESET LiveGuard. It’s cloud sandboxing and analysis of unknown but suspicious files.
This will be a slight oversimplification, but generally the main differences between consumer and SMB AVs are:
- monitoring, management, and deployment tools
- price
- advanced support
- price
- default sensitivity will likely be higher on SMB products
- price
- consumer products tend to be bundled with crap like VPNs, password managers, cleaning or ‘optimisation’ tools
- oh and price
If this is for a home office or a laptop that sees mixed business and personal use, stick with a home AV.
If it’s for a handful of work devices, the license agreements for most home AVs will state that they can’t be used by businesses, but…
If it’s for an actual SMB, weigh up a few different vendors, get quotes, arrange a trial deployment.
Hello,
ESET’s home solutions have all sorts of layers of protection in them which can protect against zero-day threats. The enterprise products have additional management and reporting tools, as well as layers of protection (EDR/MDR/XDR, depending upon which vendor’s vocabulary you use). It would be best to ask someone in sales for more information.
