I’m trying to make a proxy server so that I can go to another country and still browse and appear as if I’m at my house. Having a lot of trouble so far. Tried CC proxy, doesn’t change the IP address for some reason. Installed something called Apache but coding is so complicated.
Tunnel HTTP in SSH. SSH from your client to your house; you’ll need the ‘-D’ flag with a port. For example…
ssh -D 18443 your.house
Then configure your browser’s network settings to use a SOCKS v5 proxy on 127.0.0.1:18443. Then surf. The Internet will see your browser traffic coming from your home IP.
That’s a a terrible attitude to have. Anyone who wants to is able to learn but none of us are born with innate knowledge.
I’m sure we’ve all asked questions that someone else thought was dumb or silly.
My understanding is that they recognise IP addresses of the commercial VPN servers, they don’t recognise a vpn connection to your home lab.
I’ve just tested it by opening a video on Prime Video with my VPN connection.
