Don’t they loose money from their low price or is there less overall cost than I expect to host vpn?

It’s not that low a price. Mullvad is sort of middle of the pack price wise.
Honestly, isn’t that low IMO.
€5/month it is (much) more than many other VPN provider if you buy their 2+ years subscription + any special discount at that moment.
Given that flat rate Mullvad has, it is also much more easy for them to calculate regolari income I think.
From the landing page on cost it seems like they put a lot of thought into it and would not need a price hike for a while. I don’t believe they do regional pricing either
Thanks for all answers!
I believe it’s simply because it’s not that expensive to have a privacy respecting VPN that does less marketing than their competitors. That extra cost for Nord is for their hundreds of more servers they have, advertising, and probably data harvesting (jk)
Just how reasonable would the idea be that they make a loss? Why would they operate the service then, to do us a favour?
5 euro per month is actually cheap, and probably the cheapest vpn out there. Over a year however it becomes rather expensive - Especially when you see other vpn’s going out of their way to get you to sign up for 2 years. They are not Mullvad though, so I’ll pass.

For the performance I get only Astrill could beat them but they are 7 times as expensive a month
I think Mullvad undercharge personally.
no, running a VPN is not that expensive, it scales very well, look at all the big VPN providers sponsoring YouTubers.
no. other vpns make money from 2$ subscriptions monthly with a 2 year insta payment. even with inflation they’re confident they’re making money even after 2 years.
Hosting VPNs is dirt cheap. You only need some cores with aes-ni for encryption and lots of bandwidth. The rest is software/coding for a good user experience.
I don’t know much about VPNs and their general pricing. But 5eur for what you pay for is really good, 5eur to most is nothing I am thinking. In some countries that is price of a bread. But then I guess it also depends on where you live if it’s cheap or expensive
its 5€ a month for 5 devices
I understand. I think the price is really good, also comparing to others. Maybe there is less cost involved than I would expect, unless you use like TB’s of data every month. Even their speed is really great, I can max out my actual max Internet speed for most part if I needed
Fair enough. But heard Nord is one of those who is not so private as they claim
Don’t think it’s about reasonable or not, more like how likely, and you could say it’s unlikely. They present themselves that way on the website, having had the same price of the product since ever is one thing. I don’t know if it’s facts or not but seems legit
Yeah I just realized as you pointed it out
Unsure what you put in the word performance. But network speed and recourse usage haven’t been an issue for me.
That’s what I was thinking too but maybe it works for them.
