DMCA'd Whilst Using CyberGhost VPN

I recently got contacted by my internet provider (Spectrum- USA) for copyright infringement and they stated that they were able to trace it directly to my device that was connected to the wifi. I’m not sure why this was because on Cyberghost VPN I specifically used the servers for downloading. I am wondering if I should have used a different country as I’m currently in the USA. How do I prevent getting a notice in the future while still using Cyberghost VPN (I paid for the 3 year bundle)?

I know that I’ve seen people mentioning having luck with cyberghost but from my understanding isn’t it a browser-based VPN tool? (extension) It doesn’t really seem like that’s going to encapsulate your connection as a whole and at least from the point of view of somebody that’s never used cyberghost would inevitably lead to your information leaking. I completely understand your situation having paid for 3 years up front so if it were me I would start by trying a server outside of the US jurisdiction and also testing with available tools online like DNS leak test and any of many other tools available for free. But as for your connection I would just try as many of the different options as you can and test your speed with each of them and determine which one you’re going to have the fastest connection with and decide from there what you want to do. I personally use mullvad.

So you test for leaks / bind the VPN to your torrent client?

Also using CyberGhost and got a notice this last month. Connected correctly, and very carefully make sure I’m not leaking my own IP but was connected to US-based servers.
Had switched to using a Mac, perhaps that had something to do with it?
looking at ditching CyberGhost and just getting a different VPN.

Any good suggestions for a good non-us based VPN service?

Just wanted to note that it’s a desktop and mobile app. Also, using US servers don’t matter if they don’t log.

It’s an windows and Mac app too not just browser based.

What server was you using too as they have P2P and normal servers, P2P meant to be better speed wise.

I’m not sure how to do that.
