Did kill switch apply to qbittorrent?

I successfully installed binhex-qbittorentvpn and it works well. But I wonder if kill switch is applied… Honestly, I’m worried about safety. Or is there a better method or app?

ps: Many of you use binhex-qbittorrentvpn and binhex-delugevpn. Which one is better? What is the difference?

It has a built-in kill switch.

You mean if VPN connection drops the traffic stops?

The container should only be using the vpn tunnel so it should halt all traffic if setup correctly.

I’ve had an occurrence even in windows with kill-switch on where the app closed and downloads continued.

I use a gluetun container with deluge. Seems to work well.

binhex-qbitorrentvpn is set up to not allow any connection to the internet except through the vpn (using iptables). You can further strengthen that by selecting the vpn network (mine is wg0) in advanced settings. Supposedly it’s better than a killswitch, and I have had no issues with it.

Make sure to test it when you make any changes and just occasionally with ipleak or another similar service.

I don’t know which is better, but I set up qbit with wireguard on airvpn and it works very well for me. I like the all-in-one setup, and it seem more foolproof to me (I am the fool in this context).

wouldn’t it be better to have vpn set up in unraid directly and route the dockers to it via custom network?

it does, every so often I need to reboot the docker.

Just select the VPN interface in the clients advanced settings. If the VPN drops somehow it just won’t be able to get out to the internet until you fix it. Hasn’t ever dropped for me.

Anyone here know why mine only works when I turn off the vpn? I am using tailscale as well. I tried to also add that address to the Lan_network in the settings. Still won’t load.

Consider using tailscale… in v7 its native. If you combine it with mullvpn exit nodes (will cost you 5 euro monthly), then you can use any container you want and having it run over a vpn is litterally two clicks away.

Thanks for the reply. That’s a good thing, and maybe there’s no way to test it. Can you replicate the VPN crash and see if it works?

Thanks for the reply. In fact, there is an experience of the kill switch being disabled on Windows. So I was curious about the level of reliability of Binhex.

Gluetun is the goat.

Thanks for the reply. What torrent apps do I get to use with Gluten? Can you tell me the exact name?

Thanks for the reply. Your detailed explanation is reliable. Is there a way to test if the download blocking feature is enabled by disconnecting? I think it will give you more credibility if you see it in person.

Would this send all traffic down the vpn or only what is specified on the custom network? Can you still do port forwarding this way?

Thank you for your reply. I’ve considered that as well, but I’ve often seen articles that don’t recommend it. I didn’t have much knowledge, so I didn’t understand why. Is it possible to apply a specified network only to a specified torrent?

Thank you for your reply. What does that mean? If the connection is lost, will it completely stop the app from working on its own?

Thank you for your reply. Is there any way to see the implementation of the kill switch with my own eyes, such as disconnecting directly?

Thank you for your reply. I don’t have much knowledge, so I don’t know. I am sorry
