Detecting my own country's pricing even though VPN IP is India and new email address

I’m using a VPN (VPN India app) and my location is Delhi as shown by iplocation.net.

I created a brand new email address, AND cleared all data from the app.

Still, the Android app is giving me prices in my home country’s currency.

Any tips on getting the approx INR 1200 yearly price?

Google play is handling the payment, not the app. There’s definitely enough scammers like you trying, for Google to know how to detect you.

You might have more luck when using desktop version. But even then it will detect non-indian payment was used.

I have the same problem. I used a web browser in private browsing mode with an India VPN, and it shows me the price in INR, but as 9,995 INR per year for the family plan, which is hella expensive.

So I found a way. I set my Apple store profile to India, then it gave me the India price - 1379 rupees. And to bypass needing an Indian bank account, you can buy Apple gift cards on Amazon India, sent direct to your email. It’s fiddly but it was worth it to save.

Edit: to change back countries you need to have a zero balance. You can buy iTunes songs for 18 rupees ($0.20) which I just discovered, then you need to contact support to zero it if you have a few cents

I live in Delhi and the yearly cost is actually INR 950

It could be based on your location when you signed up - similarly to how users who create an account in China can’t follow non-Chinese users even after they leave that country.

The figures are shown in app, before going to Play. But it could be querying my account in the background.

Very weird eh? I actually live in Thailand, but am getting an equivalent expensive price here, not what locals should get.

Were you able to solve it? Lost my cheaper family price and Duo is ignoring me, so I wanted to try the vpn (since theyre ignoring the problem with my accouny, at leas a VPN, but nothing solved it)

Excellent! Well done. I’ll try with an Indian Play store account.

How much is Max for you?

Is that the monthly cost on the yearly plan, or the yearly cost?

Yes, but yearly or monthly COST
