I’m getting close to throwing this thing out the window, nothing I’ve tried seems to fix this constant pain of an error msg.
anyone recently resolve/fix this that actually held up?
Disabling VPN and Wi-Fi roaming followed by a reboot worked for me
I have a 2017, and a 2019 Shield. Works fine on the 2017, but the 2019 has had that error for months now. It’s not a network issue, nothing has changed, it just randomly stopped working one day. None of the known “fixes” has resolved it. In the past when it broke, I was able to get it to work, but all I really know is that app is flaky as fuck. I wish there was a way to completely scrub the shield of all data for a specific app. I think there is something that gets corrupted which causes this, and getting rid of it might help.
The thing that worked on both of mine was to go into settings about and SHUT DOWN. Not reboot. Shut down. Once I started them again, all was well.
No real fix. Since Hulu just updated and it appears there is an update coming for the Shield with no mention of Hulu fix. We are just F&$ked. See lots of people with a 2017 saying theirs is working. I have a 2015 and 2019 and no go for me.

Reset modem router. It has worked for me so far
Using a wired connection has worked for some.
what worked for me:
- go to settings on the nvidia shield tv home screen
- go to device preferences > about > power off
- unplug and replug the shield after 30 seconds
- boot it back up
hulu works flawlessly now
Same here. My 2019 tube shield hasnt had Hulu working consistently for like a year. Randomly it will work, and then stop again. I’ve replaced it as the main livingroom box and I rarely use it anymore.
Considering the apps are the same across devices, and at least in my case both Shields are up to date, you’d think that the issue would be consistent. My 2017 broke once a few years ago, and a reboot was all it needed. The 2019 app has broken multiple times now. Neither Hulu nor Nvidia seem to acknowledge the issue, and I’m not sure who’s really to blame.
First if you have a network-wide adblocker like pihole or AdGuard turn it off. Then clear data, uninstall Hulu, unplug shield for a few mins, reboot it, reinstall Hulu. It should work at this point…. But only temporarily. For some reason after 2-3 days the error comes back.
I had the problem and it fixed itself this past week. Dunno how.
Sometime in the past 2 weeks it fixed itself.
