Computer Randomly Having Issues with Resnet

Hi all. I have a 2020 MacBook Pro. I just wanted to check if anyone else is having this problem or not because I don’t know if this is my computer’s problem or Resnet. A couple days ago, my Mac suddenly started having problems with connecting to the internet. It just randomly stops working and my computer might crash. Once I restart, everything is working perfectly.

Yes, unfortunately this is an issue we’ve seen reported, specifically in the Sixth College area primarily (if you are experiencing it elsewhere please let us know). We’re still investigating to determine the root cause and a more permanent solution. For now, restarting seems to temporarily resolve the issue. It’s a super interesting issue since really a wifi network shouldn’t be able to cause a computer to have these sorts of issues so we’re exploring many possibilities. We’ll be posting updates on status.ucsd.edu so I would recommend keeping an eye on there. Again, our sincerest apologies while we work through this.

If you have the ucsd Cisco any connect vpn, try uninstalling that from your computer. I was having similar issues but my wifi wasn’t also working. Once I uninstalled it, all the issues went away. It was weird bc I wasn’t actively using the vpn so I’m not sure why that fixed the issue

I’m in Seventh College. No worries, I just wanted to make sure it’s not a problem with my Mac. Thanks for responding.

Not in Sixth. I’m in Seventh, but thanks for letting me know.

Hmmm, I’ll definitely try that. Thanks.

There’s a fix out where uninstalling the Cisco AnyConnect client works. Contact the service desk if the issue continues after uninstalling it.
