Hi all! We have two office locations and we are planning to change ISPs at our main office. Both offices are setup with site-to-site VPN.
Main office: Sonicwall NSA 240
Remote office: Sonicwall TZ 215
Is this all that is required?
- Configure new static IP information in main office SonicWall.
- Configure new static IP information (Gateway) in VPN settings at remote office SonicWall.
Planning to keep all LAN IPs same for both locations. Please give an insights if you have any. Any help is appreciated! Thank you
this should be straight forward. if you’re swapping out the ISP that is already setup on an interface, once you setup the main office with the new ISP, log into the Remote Sonicwall and update the public IP on the VPN gateway. if you know the new static ahead of time, you can probably login to the remote sonicwall ahead of time and add it to the secondary IP or move the currently primary to the secondary and add the new static into the primary
I’ve done this and I set up the new ISP as WAN2, and use that as the secondary IP for the tunnel. I’d do the far side first and then the head end.
OP using EOL kit probably not even the newest firmware for them. Risky, I wouldn’t take OP on as a client.
Pretty much. Just get the office that’s changing on the new wan IP and then point the other site to that IP. Assuming the connection is good, it’s like 5 minutes of downtime
Yes, but do remove side first unless you have access to that SNWL on the WAN.
Alternatively, configure your VPNs with DNS host names instead of IP addresses. Then when you change ISPs all you have to do is update the public DNS record to the new IP
Do you pay for support with them? Usually I give them a call and they are very helpful.
No offense, but this is very basic stuff. If you don’t know whats required, you should hire a professional.
Not helpful, thanks though
If you’re gonna be a dick, at least answer the guy’s question.
There is nothing wrong with making sure your configs are correct before implementing a large change. Not everyone knows Sonicwall dude, its okay to ask questions.
You are welcome.
btw, both of your sonicwalls are EOL and should have been replaced a long time ago.
Yes, I know. This was discussed recently so after the ISP change they will both be getting replaced, thank you
