Ok, i want to use tableau online at our company. The bad thing is, that the company doesn‘t want to make the database accessible from outside, so i‘m thinking if a VPN could work. My current fallback option is to write the tables in a bucket temporarily, but that would make the whole datapipeline more complicated.
Does anybody have experience with that?

We have something Tableau calls a bridge to connect to internal data sources. I’m not admin but publish dashboards to their SaaS that connect to internal sources and I assume it’s over a dedicated VPN. Not sure if the bridge is due to the type of sources (web connector and Qubole) or due to the internal nature but something to research. It is possible tho.
Hey, like Sunny said, Tableau Bridge is the way to go if Tableau Online can’t reach your database.
