So my school wifi isn’t allowing me to connect with a dns and it isn’t working. I’ve tried with a VPN. It worked for a day and it seems it has been blocked. I’m using the dns only for my apps to not get revoked. Any other ways to bypass it?
They would need to know your dns address to block them unless they block everything expect one or two, other than trying another VPN, not sure what else you can do.
There is honestly not a lot you can do
You could try adguard, it works differently and might bypass the school’s restrictions
Unless it’s a school managed device, it’d be very hard to block you from changing DNS.
why not just get a cert
Probably whitelist if they’re smart but idk since he was able to get a vpn through they just happened to catch it
My school WiFi does this as well. DNS’ like NextDNS and personal vpns both don’t work while connected to their WiFi
VPNs I’d understand, it’s very easy to detect and block common VPN protocols. But DNS? They can’t IP block every single DNS server… are you sure it’s not just for the login portal, because yea I could see a login portal not working if you change from their DNS, set to default DNS login, then change it. Have you tried encrypted DNS?
If you’ve heard of Egern I’ve tried using an encrypted dns with that and with other methods and they just don’t work
Block everything to port 53. Simple. Also they can block by protocol instead of ports. I don’t understand what op is trying to do because I’m not very familiar with this method. He could try dns over https?
I know what Egern is, I don’t know how you would use an encrypted DNS through it? I suspect it’s the login portal, causing problems. It won’t be triggered since your on a different DNS, and the network won’t let you access because you haven’t passed the login portal. Try changing to default, forget the network and rejoin, see if theirs a login portal if there is then, login and see if things work, then change your DNS. Also for encrypted DNS try Cloudflare’s Warp app.
The network actually doesn’t have a login portal it just disables the dns as soon as you join the WiFi
