Hello!
I’m connected to ProtonVPN automatically via its app; why this is not resulting in the browser extension? It says that I’m not connected to any server.
Thanks!

Both are two different entities. As example you could connect to Server 1 in the app and Server 2 in the extension.
You wouldn’t need to use the browser extension if you already have the VPN app on for the entire computer. They would be dueling each other and might result in connection loss. And both could have different servers with different IPs that would kick each other off.
is the extension working yet
And what’s the difference?
Yes, I was thinking the same! Even if, in the article about this new feature, they say:
It’s worth noting, though, that you can run the browser extension and the full app together, in which case you will enjoy the full protection of the app.
Yes, the Proton VPN extension works, and you can download it here: https://protonvpn.com/download If you experience any issues, please contact us at: https://protonvpn.com/support-form

The section “Is the browser extension as secure as the Proton VPN app?” explains it quite well
The Proton VPN app passes the whole systems traffic through the VPN. The browser extension only the browser traffic.
An example would be to connect to country A with the VPN Client, however you need country B for the browser.
