Anyone here using manual setup with SurfShark on a Chromebook?
Hi there, /u/AJDon82, thanks for your submission!

I’m based in China, so the SS app simply doesn’t work most of the time. On my phone and tablets, no big deal, as we can use the OpenVPN app and manual setup. But unfortunately, the OpenVPN app doesn’t work on Chromebooks.
Chromebooks offer a manual setup, but I’m not sure what details to put in. i asked SurkShark customer supper, but they simply told me to use OpenVPn via a Linux box. But I’d really rather use the built in manual setup if possible.
For manual setup, the Chromebook is asking me for Username and password (no probs) and then Server Hostname and OTP. Looking at the manual deets for different servers on SS, I’m not sure what either hostname nor OTP are.
So does anyone else here use the manual setup on Chromebooks? If so, is setting up SurfShark this way possible? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or insight!
Hi! Chromebooks should allow to install Android apps, you could try the official OpenVPN client for Android that lets you import .ovpn configurations from our page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn&pli=1
Hey Mod, yeah, that’s what I would have thought too! I can install and open the OpenVPN app, but it will neither let me drop the .ovpn into it, nor does the app see those files when directing it to the folder they are contained in. But yeah, maybe I’ll contact the devs of the app and see if there is something up with that. Cheers.
