I have to give it up to Google, this is a fantastic addition. Free Pixel 8 Pro from Tmobile with a plan that includes unlimited 5G, phone comes with a free VPN, and my download speed is anywhere from 500-800Mb/s with the VPN active.
Plan only includes 50GB/mo hotspot/tether, but I don’t even bother to turn it on anymore. Just download all torrents directly to the phone then move them over to the PC. o_O
Is useful for shit posting on Reddit while on work Wi-Fi.
A little tip: if your mobile provider throttles your video streaming resolution, enable VPN and you’ll get full resolution while on mobile.
You can test this by running a speed test on fast .Com with VPN off and then on. It’s hosted by Netflix so they have to treat it the same as the site itself.
Isn’t that the one getting nuked at the end of this month because Google has a deep and inherent love for killing off products and services that their customers genuinely like?
My favorite part is that you can set certain networks with no VPN. My home network and cellular the vpn is off but if I join the sketchy wifi at the restaurant it turns on automatically.

I use it, but the dumb thing is google weather is based on the IP so it always thinks I’m somewhere else. Yes GPS/location is on so it has no excuse.

The Pixel 8 VPN is worse than the Google one VPN cuz it doesn’t let u use a broader location range, idk why they removed that option. Was kinda disappointed when I upgraded from the 6a and saw that the feature was removed for some reason, hopefully they bring it back. Otherwise it’s a feature I always use and appreciate.
