Try to switch ExpressVPN protocol to IKEv2.
Beyond them telling anyone who reports it that they’re “aware of the issue and working on it”, I haven’t heard or seen anything.
Apple says it’s ExpressVPN. But what I don’t understand is why is my iPhone is working fine with VPN on but my desktop is not? Wouldn’t that make it an Operating system hang up? I can send and receive on iOS with VPN on but I cannot send or receive on OS with VPN on. Why?

• In the ExpressVPN app, click > Preferences…
• In the General tab, uncheck the box for Stop all internet traffic if the VPN disconnects unexpectedly.
Got this to solve the problem on my iPhone and iPad both running iOS 18.
On your iOS device:
• On the ExpressVPN app, tap Options.
• Go to Settings > Network Protection.
• Toggle the ExpressVPN app’s network protection to OFF.
Bumping this. Still not update from Apple OR Express. I keep checking religiously because I cannot stand another minute without my workflow. I’ve never lost so much time over such a simple issue in my entire life. WHY DOES MY IPHONE WORK BUT MY MAC STUDIO DOESN’T!?!
I just checked and there’s still no update for this issue. Can someone please explain to me (like I’m in grade 4) why this works on my phone but not my computer?
I’m switching my workflow to another messaging app. Every other one I have installed still works perfect with VPN on and I’m done waiting for a fix from Apple. I still feel like this is a loss for the customer since it’s not ideal that I’ll no longer be using Apple’s Message service but it’s been almost a month now with no fix and I can handle another day so I’m evolving!
Just wanted to share that I reverted back to Sonoma 14.7 and everything is back to normal THANK FUCK. Lesson learned!

That’s what they suggrest everytime there’s an issue with an update but eventually the kink gets ironed out. The entire reason I use a VPN is to block trackers so if I have to turn off that feature, I’ll be asking for my money back.
How come I don’t have switch anything on my iphone? It works fine and has all the same settings as the desktop app which isn’t working…
I got all excited because I saw the update on my phone but I’m still having the issue even after the update.
Tjhis isn’t a solution though, this defeats the purpose of the app. I’m hoping there will be a patch for the app soon that avoids having to turn off security features in order to use it the way it was designed.
Same. Didn’t realized how spoiled the Mac ecosystem had made me until it all stopped working with ExpressVPN lol
