Hi!
I recently started using a VPN, and I’ve noticed that some websites including straightforward ecommerce websites like ae.com would load the webpage and then immediately redirect to a 400 Server error. I thought it was because I used brave or something to do with my cookies, so I turned off the blockers and tried icognito. Both yielded the same results. The only thing that seemed to work was turning off my VPN. Is this normal? I use a provider that is a fairly common, but it’s a service that offers much more than just VPN, so I can’t seem to find any posts sharing the same issue as me.
I will also note that I cannot choose the location of the VPN with this provider, it’s one that’s randomly just given when you choose to turn it on. Also, I don’t have this issue when browsings with tor, but I’m not trying to use tor for casual online window shopping.

400
is one of the common requests returned when you are being blocked at the server level. This block is usually placed because of IP reputation issues associated with some VPN IP addresses. However, this blocking mechanism almost always effects TOR IP addresses as they usually have a pretty bad IP reputation.

I just tested that website using VPN with my Firefox browser and it works like a charm. No issues at all.
That’s the confusing part: the only way I can bypass this error other than turning off my vpn is by using tor to access those websites.
Yeah, I figured it’s an issue on my end, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced having a bunch of random websites returning a 400 error as it seems to somewhat be related to my vpn.
A 400 Bad Request Error occurs when a request sent to the website server is incorrect or corrupt, and the server receiving the request can’t understand it.
What OS are you using?
What browser are you using?
Do you get the same error when using a private window in Firefox?
Mac OS Ventura, brave, yes. I’ve tried on operaGX as well.
